Dark, cherry-red colour. Expressive aromas of red fruits like strawberry and raspberry accompanied by impressions of violets and liquorice. Due to its aging on inox, the wine enjoys plenty of fraîche and bulges with flavourful fruit. Fresh and pure on the palate. Structure and concentrated fruit keep in perfect balance. Medium-bodied and long finish. Another interpretation of the classic Rioja style.
Pure and elegant style that goes perfectly with all kinds of grilled meat dishes but also vegetarian preparations and all kinds of tapas or Pinxtos. As its fruit is not affected by all kinds of wood maturation, it lends itself perfectly to being served chilled if necessary.
- climate
-
The climate in Rioja Alavesa is determined more than in the rest of Rioja by the Atlantic Ocean. Protection from that same northern influence by the Cantabrian mountains. Combined with high altitude vineyards, this guarantees short but very hot summers with cooling by Northern winds and long mild winters with sufficient precipitation.
- soil
-
Otra Historia's vineyard is located at 620m altitude in Laguardia. The average age of the vines is over 40 years and the soil is clay and limestone.
- vinification
-
100% Tempranillo picked manually in the cool of the morning. The grape bunches are pressed whole and given a 3 to 4-day maceration on the skins. Fermentation and malolactic fermentation take place on inox where the wine simply rests until bottling. No use of wooden barrels!
